The Kashi Ropeway is a 3.75-kilometer-long cable car route connecting five major locations:
Varanasi Cantt Railway Station
Kashi Vidyapith
Rath Yatra
Girja Ghar
Godowlia Chowk
This route connects key religious, educational, and market areas—making it ideal for pilgrims, students, tourists, and local commuters alike.
Travel time between Cantt and Godowlia, which usually takes 45 minutes by road, will now take just around 15 minutes by ropeway.

Gondolas: Over 150 cabins
Capacity: 6,000 passengers per hour (both directions)
Cabin Capacity: 10 passengers per cabin
Departure Frequency: Every 90 seconds

Construction of three major stations is complete.
Trial runs have already started between Cantt and Rath Yatra.
Final testing is ongoing, and the complete ropeway is expected to be fully operational by August 2025.
Minor delays near Godowlia are being addressed through legal and environmental channels.
